Peace and tranquility, beautiful nature as far as the eye can see, with the low hum of weird and wonderful creatures and a light evening breeze, place to come if you want to meditate, clear your head and heal, and soak up the atmosphere of ancient spirits. It also a perfect place for honeymooners.
The place invites not only to relax, to get to know Balinese food, and do sightseeing trips, it’s more to it. Founded in the traditional Balinese village of Sumita where you will not only be surrounded by Bali's natural landscapes but you will also see the rural life of farmers and you will certainly hear and see the daily Balinese ceremonies at the temples, giving you the full authentic Balinese experience. It’s real life here.
Our villa consists of two lovely bedrooms which invites you to relax. It's so nice and quiet you may not heard any vehicles or other persons at all. Great for a honeymoon or relaxing visit. Luxuriant plants and manicured garden around the bedrooms will surely give you fresh atmosphere.
Completed with a little kitchen to prepare drinks and simple meals, the master bedroom has a living area of its own. It has also beautiful marble floor, a high traditional ceiling and a classy mahogany wooden interior design along with light blue walls, and full length glass windows and doors to enjoy the valley view for a serene ambiance. The room embraces beautiful canopied double bed, a sofa-bed where you can lounge and watch TV, a seating area for intimate breakfasts and there are relax chairs for reading a book. Master bedroom has a lovely large outdoor toilet that looks on the jungle. The en-suite bathroom features a built-in bathtub where you can hear bathe with the sounds of the river, birds and wind in the background.
The guest bedroom is located little higher up the cliff, in a private pavilion with direct access to the swimming pool. This room breathes serenity with light blue walls, lovely garden view and Mahogany wooden furniture. There is also a wardrobe closet with a safety deposit, mini bar, and canopied king size bed which can be converted into twins upon request. The en-suite bathroom boasts a tropical waterfall shower, pouring down from the Balinese stone-carved creature.
Instead of living room we provide "Bale Bengong" as a place to relax and enjoy the serenity in the middle of green atmosphere and wide tropical valley view. Blended in with the extraordinary natural environment, the living area is found in a Balinese Balé Bengong (gazebo). It is a rectangular gazebo with an open air style, purple curtains, beautiful antique sofa's and a circular wooden table with chairs. The place to come if you want to meditate, yoga, writes or read a book, perfect for romantic alfresco dinning with candles burning and the right music playing. The atmosphere on this lovely designed living area and garden around it is truly unique to experience.
POOL & GARDEN
You will be warmly greeted by a Buddha sculpture upon entering through the Balinese gate at the villa. The stone steps with manicured garden around it will lead you down the beautiful valley to the villa's pavilions. On the edge of the cliff you will find a stunning infinity pool with size of 6 m x 2 m length and 1, 5 m depth. Rather small but nice with little Jacuzzi jets and good for cooling down on the hot days.
Deck chairs are available for sunbathe on the loungers or read a book in the shade of the parasol. The Buddha terrace by the pool is also another great place to relax and have drinks at the antique table and chairs, surrounded by greenery, Buddha sculptures and the impressive jungle valley in front of you.
This is a good opportunity to explore Balinese dishes. Unlike many villas, we can offer all meals (breakfast is included in the rate and a menu offers lunch and dinner selections at a modest additional cost). We can cater in a modest and understanding way to special dietary needs, including gluten free and vegetarian cuisine with advance notice.
All food and beverage items are charged at cost price, plus an additional 20% service charge. We've stayed in the Mahogany Villa for one week in June, and everything was great!
The one-bedroom house is comfortable, with nice furniture and lots of space, toilet clean and with good shower, and the swimming pool just in front of it amazing. The guys working for the villa were very welcoming and always ready to help, and they prepared great food... served in a beautiful gazebo surrounded by flowers and jungle, both breakfasts and dinners were perfect! Lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, amazing Balinese soups, grilled fish and meat, noodles and rice, even good cocktails and countless bintang... making Italians happy with food is always difficult, and they made it :)
The villa is just besides a small traditional Balinese village of woodcarvers, friendly people, half an hour drive from Ubud (or more, depends on the traffic which is sometimes crazy in Bali)... from the parking it's 2 minutes walk down the hill, and entering the villa you also enter the jungle, all around you! And, if you want to be really alone in the nature, you can walk down through steps from the villa to a small platform. From there, you can hear the river at the bottom and all the noises of the jungle, really amazing place :)
The place is perfect to relax, with even a second gazebo for Balinese massages, which we loved (only 8 euros or so for more than an hour)... and there's plenty of activities to do from there too, either renting a car (driving in Bali is interesting!!) or with a driver... we did a lot, also with the help of the manager of the villa: rice terraces, ubud, climb of batur, many temples everywhere, the lakes in the north, and a traditional indu cerimony in the villa :)
Overall, we loved the stay here, far from the chaos of the touristic areas, surrounded by nature but with all the comforts & good food we could think of... definitely we'll come back if we get the chance!
The villa is just great. It is unbelievably beautiful and very romantic.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. they really done their best to make our stay great.
The location is great for relaxing and enjoying exotic nature. The villa is a bit far away from Ubud. You can get all the necessary services on the villa but for that you have to inform the staff at least a day in advance so that they can organise it. On the other hand, the location allows to access easily different point of interest.
Peace and tranquility, beautiful nature as far as the eye can see, with the low hum of weird and wonderful creatures and a light evening breeze. The place to come if you want to meditate, write a book, clear your head and heal; shake off the cruel realities of life and soak up the atmosphere of The East in the company of ancient spirits.
There’s something deeply authentic about Mahogany Villa. It’s real. It creaks and moans. There’s nothing slick or shiny or new about it. There’s a sense that if it weren’t for the daily tending of the two Ketuts, it would slip back into the jungle that surrounds it and be rediscovered by some intrepid explorer in a hundred years. It’s real life here. The gas can run out, the internet or power can cut out, the television never works but who cares? That’s not what you’re here for. If you want everything modern and remote-controlled, go somewhere else!
It’s a rich experience here. The pool is divine, the staff are helpful and friendly, the food is deliciously home cooked, and the gecko in the roof of my villa is clearly building an extension for himself between midnight and 4 am! I’d miss him if he wasn’t making himself busy all night. This time, I came alone to regroup and write. But next time, I’ll bring friends. The staff will be pleased. More food, more massages and more driving around! Ubud and its attractions are just a 30 minute drive away.
In the very rare event of the airport being closed when you are due to arrive, we will endeavour to reschedule your villa booking to a mutually beneficial time.
