Tabanan is home to probably the most photographed building in Bali - Pura Ulun Danu Bratan Temple. One of the most iconic sights on the island, this 17th Century landmark has a collection of beautiful shrines and spires which are frequently featured on advertisements and Instagram feeds.
Despite hosting such an iconic landmark, the area has an off-the-track feel and - as a result - is popular with hikers looking to explore ‘real Bali’. Still, the larger tourist crowds generally tend to give this region of the island a miss giving it an air of serenity.
As well as the iconic temple, Tabanan is also home to a beautiful stretch of botanical gardens and the enchanting Bali Butterfly Park. Both of which are worth a look for any visiting the region.
Tabanan can be summed up as the agricultural heartland of Bali. Populated by rice fields and enchanting scenery, it’s a tranquil location where tourists can relax and get away from it all.
Staying in Tabanan is an excellent idea if you want a holiday to de-stress and unwind. This pristine part of the island is beautiful and must be seen to be believed. Furthermore, the lack of tourist-centred destinations means you’re also guaranteed some peace and quiet.
