The recently refurbished Sahaja Deluxe, is a spacious two-bedroom detached villa featuring double king size en-suite bedroom with elegant bathtubs, fully equipped kitchen in a large open plan living, dining area. The highlight of this villa is the private 10m2 pool and garden terrace with luxury gazebo, boasting unforgettable views, making this home perfect for romantic couples & traveling families looking for a large space for both relaxing and entertaining.
Escape the hustle and bustle of the busy tourist spots and enjoy a slower pace in the rural village of Tegalmengkeb, nestled in the region of Tabanan which features Bali’s best untouched natural beauty. Take a ride through the village and be sure to be greeted with warm smiles and children waving as you pass by. Venture further by foot (30 mins), bicycle (15 mins), or scooter (10 mins) to the secluded local palm tree lined black sand beach, where you can soak up the sun in peace.
We loved our stay! Very sustainable resort bcos they contribut a lot to the village life and their people by involving them in tourism.
We enjoyed going to the markets in Tabanan by scooter and then cooking our own dinner in the villa. Went to the gym every day which was completely new and fun to use!
A truly special and unique place. The accommodation is extremely comfortable and well appointed, with a fantastic balance between Indonesian tradition and modern necessities.
However, the real strength of the resort is the people who work there. Their approachability, willingness to help and desire to go way beyond what one can normally expect is in my experience unparalleled.
This really is a beautiful resort and for those seeking peace, quiet and relaxation I wholeheartedly recommend it.
We spent almost two weeks in Sahaja Sawah Resort and were very happy. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday an authentic Balinese experience this is the place for you. It is far away from all the noise of the city, the view is amazing. The place is beautiful, the food was very good and the staff is absolutely amazing. They will help you in any way you need and will try to make you feel as comfortable as possible. We had some walks in the surrounding villages and our 15 year old boys were thrilled to be able to drive scooters. We rented a car with a driver several times and were able to visit Denpasar and some temples. The only thing we missed was a few local restaurants for a diversion. But no complains to the food of the Sahaja Sawah , both Asian and western dishes were delicious. We hope we will be able to come back some time to this place.
We stayed at this lovely place for 7 weeks, just the place we looked for. It's on the countryside neighbor with the green nature and rice fields. We booked one of the houses with a nice view over the rice fields. As a family we had everything we could possible want regarding comfort and equipment the house.
The service was great, if we had any questions or request the staff was outstanding helping out. Remember to ask if you have any request the staff will always do their best to help you out.
A recommendation is to borrow scooters and explore the countryside, a good way to see the villages around, go to the market or beach. We also took the opportunity to rent driver to see nice places around in Bali. But mainly we just stayed and relaxed at the resort, no stress, no demands perfect time to rest as a family.
A big thanks to all the staff who made our trip fantastic:
Tia, always so helpful and our main contact on the whole stay.
Restaurant, great food we especially enjoyed the rolls and the nasi goreng, and of course the terrific home made sambal that we are still enjoying back in Sweden.
Massage, wow this was world class.
Drivers, careful driving and good knowledge about the country.
My husband and I visited Sahaja Sawah on our honeymoon. It was a very comfortable and spacious stay in a beautiful, remote coastal area. Transportation to and from were taken care of comfortably by very courteous staff. The food available at the restaurant was delicious, and it was wonderful to have the option for room service. Staff were very attentive to our requests and mealtime needs, but also gave us plenty of privacy. We took advantage of the available bicycle and moped rentals nearly every day of our stay. We went to Tanah Lot and on a few other day trips, one to a surfing beach. Tabanan and Selemadeg are viable options for street food (for the adventurous), shopping, etc. One of the best things about this location was that it allows you to see local dwellings and color if you are out and about. I am so glad that my Bali experience included that aspect. At the same time, the resort itself is comfortable and luxurious. The nearby beach is gorgeous with black sand and views, but is not safe to swim in. However, there is a lovely pool and access to swimmer-friendly beaches via moped or resort transport. Highly recommended, a great stay!
The price was very good compared to the quality that we received, and what we got was of highest quality. The whole resort is located in a remote, secluded part of Bali, but it gives you one important advantage over luxurious hotels in the city centre - freedom. You can rent scooters and freely roam around the island, visiting beautiful farmlands and wild beaches. I actually took some of my life's best photos on the nearby seashore. You can also mingle with people from local villages - they are all very kind and warm, happy to talk and help you out.
The location and accomodation is amazing. We loved swimming in our plunge pool and looking over the paddy fields. The staff were fantastic, food was great, we loved the menu choices and convenience. Massages, motor bikes and other services were fantastic. We would love to come again.
Went with my husband and 3 adult children.
You will be welcomed by Ariani (managing director) and you will enjoy the superlative service & warm hospitality of her 15+ Balinese colleagues & friends - including Ngurah John (manager), Tia (reception), Yuni & Ayu (food & beverage), Dek Pur & Luh (chef), Ketut (maintenance) and Tom (IT), among others.
The money you spend here will do much good to help support the local village community.
And the time you spend here will be priceless.
So what is one thing that is especially special about Sahaja Sawah Resort (other than their superb staff and world class resort facilities)?
It's their location!!!
This winter, we find ourselves paying homage to the ruins of the iconic Acropolis in Athens; soaking in spectacular sunsets from the outdoor jacuzzi of our whitewash villa perched by the edge of the caldera in stunning Santorini; gently cruising along the Nile River exploring Eqyptian antiquity; and staying a month at Sahaja Sawah Resort completely surrounded north, south, east and west by miles and miles of verdant green rice terraces on Asia's #1 island destination: beautiful Bali.
Originally built in 2010 by Dutch owner/philantropist/humanitarian/developer/entrepreneur Bernard van Elmpt, Sahaja Sawah (meaning "only rice fields") was subsequently completely renovated in 2014 and it is without doubt one of the most surprisingly pleasurable places to stay at for an authentic rural Balinese experience.
All the popular tourist hotspots in Bali - from Uluwatu to Nusa Dua, Kuta, Seminyak, Ubud and Kintamani - can easily be covered with a couple of well-planned day trips from using this (seemingly) remote resort as your homebase.
When staying at Sahaja Sawah Resort, be sure to also include a day trip to the UNESCO World Heritage Jatiluwih Rice Terraces nearby and Pura Ulun Danu Beratan ... both stunningly cinematic locations!!
If you relish the joy & freedom of driving on your own - just as we do - book an APV ahead of time before arriving in Bali (to arrange for a vehicle rental pickup at the airport) and plot a course through the highlands from the resort to Pupuan, Bubunan, Lovina, Singaraja, Gitgit and Danau Beratan for an amazingly exhilarating road trip of a lifetime!
For very competitive vehicle rental rates and trustworthy reputation, do a Google search for Balicarfinder (dotcom).
Here is another tip: save up to 50% by booking with Sahaja Sawah Resort for longer term stays.
