Wonderful family retreat

To start, our transportation from the airport was waiting and ready, we came in very late at night and he was friendly and quick to bring the car around. We arrived at the house and he manager was waiting with our keys and the wifi password. She also left her card in case we needed to contact her. We had a few blackouts in which we had to but it was the whole block so it's not an issue with the house. Like another reviewer, when doing all my research for a vacation rental to stay at I was concerned with all the bedrooms opening up to the pool as I have a 2 year old. This placed worked perfectly for us as only the master bedroom had direct access to the pool. Two of the bedrooms have bathrooms attached to them and the third bedroom has a bathroom right next to it. Overall it was an amazing place to stay, the house and pool were cleaned everyday by the staff and they stopped by frequently to see if we needed transportation or anything else. My favorite part was that they asked every morning once they were done cleaning what time they should come the following day, this was perfect as we didn't have to worry about them showing up before we were out of bed. As for the location, you do have to walk around about a block to get back to the house but it was nice to be on a quiet street and yet still so close to all the restaurants and shops. The night market is close by as well. We ate out almost every meal so we hardly used the kitchen. Our kids favorite part was the pool, they were swimming like fish by the time we left and it was nice because half of the pool has a sitting ledge below the waterline so the 2 year old was okay on that ledge until he was comfortable going in the deep part. For us it was an amazing stay but we weren't expecting luxury as its on the cheaper side of vacation rentals. For what we paid it was a great deal. Would I book again, perhaps! We had initially booked for the proximity to the beach but with the pool we only went to the beach one day. The rest of the time we were headed closer to Ubud for activities so I would probably book in Ubud just for the proximity. Would I recommend to a friend? Yes!

Enjoyable much needed holiday

We stayed at the Orchid 3 for 8 days, I will start with the whole administration/booking experience. Communication was excellent and all my enquiries were handled in a timely and professional manner. The driver was waiting for us on our arrival at the airport, he did not however know where the villa was located. To be honest I was a little disappointed in the location, it was in Bumi Ayu 1, which is actually like a little alleyway and a dead end, so even though we were only one row from the main road, we had to walk in a roundabout way to get there, however it was not so bad and it also made for a quiet time with no traffic being able to use it as a cut through. The villa is a bit smaller than I thought, they have a good photographer who has made the villa and pool appear bigger than it actually is. The house keeper Bagus was there to welcome us, he is a little treasure and was always there when we needed him. We actually rearranged the main bedroom as I do not like to sleep against the wall, and must admit that the room actually looked a lot better and more welcoming. The bathrooms are really more of wet areas, no glass or curtains around the shower, this made for a messy and slippery bathroom. We had to ask for more towels on occasion, as clean towels were not really forthcoming, also the linens did not actually fit on the bed. It is worth noting that there was no hairdryer or soaps and shampoos provided, these items are listed in the facilities in the listing, so be prepared and take some with you. The kitchen was a good size, however, there is no microwave or grill, they do have a stove top, toaster and blender. There is also only one frying pan and a larger pot for cooking, this probably will not bother most, but I enjoy making breakfast and found it difficult to do any variations. It is worth noting that the villa is located amongst a local community and a rooster who I think is confused about the time he should be waking us up. I have always given honest reviews and regardless of what I have written above we had a wonderful holiday and felt very relaxed and reluctant to leave.
