Comprises of 3 separate beachfront villas offers 2, 4 and 6 bedrooms respectively.
The three villas sit in a row facing out over the Indian Ocean on a stretch of beach which is perfect for surfing. They are approached through a grand entrance overlooked by the protection of a large stone Buddha. To one side is a commercial kitchen where food is prepared before it is served to you in the luxury of your beachside paradise.
12 Bedroom Estate’s tranquil beachfront location is approached through a quintessential Balinese landscape of coconut palms and rice fields, peppered with the peaks of mountains on the horizon. This untouched spot is situated on the south west coast right beside the traditional village of Seseh where life has remained largely unchanged by the progress of the modern world.
The luxurious 12 bedroom estate comfortable sleeps 24 guests and features unbeatable views of the surrounding natural beauty and with each villa being restored back to their former glory at the end of 2016. Contemporary tropical architecture, vast open air living spaces and an abundance of light intermingles with the soft sound of the waves, a myriad of exotic green and sweet scented frangipani trees to bring you a holiday retreat that you will simply never want to leave.
All the villas are approached through a stunning walkway which provides tantalising vista’s across the endless rice fields. Each property is private and fully detached from the others and the innovative landscaping of the gardens at the front means that each swimming pool area is separated by a riot of tropical greenery. However, the lawn, a brilliant space for parties and special events, opens up across the full length of the estate as it reaches down to the beach.
Location: The villa is located on Seseh Beach, surrounded by beautiful paddy fields and just minutes from the picturesque Seseh village. This stretch of beach is excellent for surfing

Spent a fantastic week in August with Myf friends at this stunning villa facing munggu beach - great service, great food, great setting, beautifully furnished and comfortable, perfect weather. We took advantage of having a driver/car some days to go out for lunch and shopping nearby. We all want to return.
I recently stayed at Villa Makanda in the Shalimar Estate Bali with some friends, and had an amazing stay. To get there you drive through proper Bali plenty of paddy fields and temples, which sets the mood for fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived the staff were so helpful, unloading all our luggage and taking it to our rooms, looking after my friends children, keeping the villa immaculate, helping in the kitchen and looking after us all – a full time job, but done with grace and love. The villa bedrooms are enormous with floor to ceiling mosquito nets and huge bathrooms and the downstairs ones have a sofa overlooking the huge baths. The villa has massive sofas in the living room, open kitchen and dining with an alcove for TV. The gardens and pool were the main attraction, with immaculate gardens all around the estate. Highly recommended!!
This place is awesome!! We were told there has been a recent change in management (for the better). I was part of the bridal party in a wedding, we stayed for 3 nights. The accommodation/grounds and service were all amazing. Cannot speak highly enough of this place. It is a little out of the hustle and bustle (which we liked) but a bit of a trek to seminyak in busy traffic. In saying that, why would you want to go anywhere when staying in a place like this. Hot tip: We saw a couple of snakes there, including one in the outdoor bathroom so just keep the bedroom doors shut ! Absolutely want to get back here!!
We arrived at the villa and greeted by the most friendly and professional staff. The rooms were spotless, and the surroundings were so peaceful. We were offered a menu and asked when we'd like to order our lunch so they could prepare. The food was exceptional and beautifully prepared.
As there was nobody staying at the adjoining villas, the staff said it was fine for us to wander and take in the beautiful 4 and 6 bdr villas.
The manager gave so much of his time to get us insight into the recent Canggu developments and how much he'd love to see us again.
I can't recommend Shalimar enough, I'll be back next time.
We had an incredible stay at Villa Shalimar. Our villa Cantik was stunning, clean and stylish. The location was peaceful and idyllic among the rice paddy fields and metres from the calming ocean waves, which were beautiful to listen to at night. It truly felt like our own oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Bail. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, the service was exceptional and everything done with a smile. The staff were so lovely and nothing was ever problem. Arim, Budi, Kadek, Ketut and Dayu were amazing. We absolutely loved it and will definitely come back to Villa Shalimar. We would highly recommend Villa Shalimar.
Wonderful, beautiful, elegant, magical simply perfect. Cannot recommend highly enough..staff and facilities were first class, recommended for weddings or any large gatherings. Each villa was private enough to allow time out for everyone.
Wonderful place! We had the best days there, taking long biking excursions in the towns around the villa and long walks on the beach. Definitely what Bali is about, each excursion bought a new surprise, a new ceremony, cremation, offering... we also enjoyed walking down the beach to Echo beach to watch the surfers and the wonderful and very cheap massages arranged in the villa.
My daughter chose this venue for her wedding as it was such a beautiful location and capable of housing the entire bridal party and parents of both groom and bride. The staff are friendly, helpful and thorough. The staff will prepare delicious meals at whatever time you wish. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very spacious. The lawn is manicured not cut, and the gardens are treated with the same amount of care. After the ceremony the guest walked around the main swimming pool, to the drinks and formal dining area. There is a generously sized dance floor for those who wish to dance. As far as celebration venues or luxury villas go, this place has set the bar extremely high. Well worth checking out.
We had a group 40th party here with all kids. 6 families all stayed for 10 days and there was more than enough room spread across all villas. Staff were great although meal times was sometimes very hardwork. Location, 3 pools, huge gardens to run around, massive bedrooms, massive living area made it great villa for 30 people.
Not to mention the private party.
Downside it is a long drive from airport & other sight seeing areas but we found no reason to leave villa. Beach is no good for swimming. Overall highly recommend for large groups holiday
I recently stayed at Villa Shalimar in October and this is also where i got married. As soon as i stepped foot on the premise i was blown away. The villas are very large and spacious and the grounds they sit on are beautiful. I read some of the reviews on Trip Advisor prior to arriving and ill be honest i was a little worried due to some of the negative comments on here regarding the maintenance of the villas but I found the entire complex exceeded my expectations (including my guests) Yes the bathrooms are not as new and trendy as the W Retreat in Seminyak, but they are still huge and lovely. Having a large bath outside with the option to overlook the yard is priceless. The 4 bedroom villa and the 6 bedroom villa are identical, except for the 2 downstairs bedrooms in the 6 bedroom villa which arent as nice (a lot cooler though but a little dark and you lose the view of the gardens) The 2 bedroom villa has more privacy as the pool is fenced and separated from the other 2 villas. We had a group of about 25 people stay in these 3 villas including parents, children, singles, couples etc and the place really was perfect for everyone. Each room is huge and has its own bathroom so you still acheive that privacy, but great lounge and kitchen areas and you cant beat the large pools that even have a swim up bench to sit and eat your lunch on.
The staff were also wonderful. No request was too much. They arranged all our meals, organised massages for us, helped with transport to areas nearby and were always close by should we have needed anything.
The venue itself for a wedding was also amazing. It had the perfect set up! The ceremony was held (near the 6 bedroom villa), with guests then to have cocktails on the large grassed area neearby, the reception was held in between the 4 bedroom and 2 bedroom villas on the grass beneath lanterns, fairy lights etc. The outlook was stunning. The reception also overlooked the pool (which everyone ended up in by the end of the night) but you also had access to the lounge area and toilet of the 4 bedroom villa. So was handy for those that wanted to sit on the couch (we did have a few un well guests that sucumbed to bali belly in the days leading up) but they were still close enough to feel involved and watch everyone at the reception or in the pool. It was also perfect for our children that attended to be put to bed with the babysitter that was hired, without feeling like they were too far away. If i had to give a negative the only one would be is that the bedrooms had air con and fans, however the large open air lounge rooms obviously didnt and at times it was quite warm through the day (however nothing that a dip in the pool couldnt solve) The beach behind the villa is not a nice clean beach, however ive been told there is a nicer beach about a 5-10 minute walk away. (i didnt get a chance to check it out however)
All in all i was very impressed with the Villa Complex and would recommend it to anyone wishing to go and stay somewhere a little quieter with a large group or for a function. There isnt anything super close to the villa however....but that suited us just fine as it encouraged everyone to stay and use the villa facitilities and take advantage of the staff to provide the food for us. So it was a nice opportunity to relax and spend time with our group. (Echo Beach etc is a short cab ride away or 20 minute walk)
Having been to Bali many times we felt recently the congestion of Seminyak, Legian and even Ubud was taking the charm out of it. Then we discovered Shalimar and have fallen in love with Bali all over again.
24 friends stayed in the 3 villas, a mix of half kids and half adults. We couldnt have hoped for a more divine place. We've all stayed in villas before but never one with this much land and so beautifully setup. Sure there are a few little issues with maintenance but they are insignificant and I'd much rather have them than a sterilised generic suite in a Seminyak resort.
The staff as mentioned in other posts could not have been better. Eric, Boudi, Arib and so many other wonderful members of the team who's names I didnt learn were all, without exception, brilliant. Thank you guys.
We had a "white party' dinner one night with Babi Guling (suckling pig) and BBQ snapper, prawns, satay, nasi goreng etc - it was absolutely sensational - beyond expectations.
One of our little girls had a birthday while we were there and somehow the staff found out. They made the most delicious birthday cake with her name on it and presented after dinner singing happy birthday. Sweeeet!
Echo Beach is an easy walk down the black sand beach. There is great coffee and a few restaurants there. Also Edelweis Spa does great massages (they walk on your back!).
Brilliant surfing at River Mouth and Old Mans just down near Echo and you can rent boards there if you've left yours at home. Not for beginners though.
Time your trips to town - Sundays are best but really we didnt have much traffic when we did head to town for dinner on any night. Maybe 30-40 mins. But - if you hit bad traffic during peak times it can be a lot longer. We didnt feel the need for regular shopping trips so we spent a lot of time in and around Seseh/Echo Beach/Canggu. We found it useful to have a driver on standby - $50/day is a fair price.
We would recommend Shalimar to all our friends - and I cant wait to do it all again.
Thanks so much Eric to you and your wonderful team.
In the very rare event of the airport being closed when you are due to arrive, we will endeavour to reschedule your villa booking to a mutually beneficial time.
